About the Work

My work bridges traditional technique with contemporary innovation, preserving the layered interplay of light, time, and place. Using a 19th-century photographic time-blending technique, I merge up to 40 exposures captured in a single location throughout the day, creating an irreplicable image. Transitioning from digital to physical, these images undergo a meticulous hand-finishing process: my studio assistant and I hand-roll liquid gel ink onto translucent cellophane sheets. Once heated to a gaseous state, it infuses into open pores. As the substrate cools, its pores close, permanently bonding the image to the upcycled aluminum surface. In its entirety from pre to post production, the process takes me anywhere from a few weeks to several years.
